We embrace everything from kit cars to classic beauties! We have members with a variety of kit cars from Lotus 7 / Caterham look-a-likes through Morgan type kits, and a Classic Davrian. On the classic and sports side we have Lotus, MG, Porsche and others represented.
Our monthly club night is held on the second Wednesday of every month at Backworth Club. During the summer we aim to have one weekend run, two weekday runs each month and a we nominate one local show to be our club "show of the month".
Just show up with a smile and a love for cars!
Absolutely! We love showing off our rides! Each month we nominate one local show to be our club "show of the month" where we all try to get together, but members all have their favourite shows too. If there's enough interest we attend the national kit car shows and there's usually a group trip to attend the National Classic Car Show at the NEC each year.
As well as our monthly runs, we organise our "Big Weekend" where we include an overnight stop on a tour of around 300 miles: We have our "Grand Day Out" where we have an extended run with stops at several of our favourite places for coffee and cake. We usually have an annual barbeque and, of course, a Christmas night out .
The club originated as the Northumbria Kit Car Club in the early 1980’s. After a short period we became the North East Kit Car Club to reflect the wider membership base, as the neighbouring clubs were the Cleveland Kit Car Club in the South, and the Scottish Kit Car Club to the North. In March 2015 we amended our club name to reflect our interest in classics as well as kits and moved our club night to avoid a clash with another popular club nearby. We currently meet on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at Backworth Club.
